LG Electronics: shows its first LED-based LCD TVs and a 3rd-Generation Blu-ray Disc player that can stream Netflix movies. Meridian: unveils the first 10-Megapixel projector for home theaters. Reference 810 video projection system for $185K. Toshiba: releases the XD-E500 DVD Player with XDE Technology. It upconverts standard DVDs to 1080p resolution and XDE adds three user-selectable enhancement modes: Sharp, Color and Contrast. Other features include HDMI CEC, DivX, MP3, WMA and JPEG playback, and output of 24 fps is also available. CEC stands for: Consumer Electronics Control. CEC is a two-way communication system. HDMI-CEC enabled gear connected via HDMI cables, can be controlled with just one remote. Having a single remote that requires no programming is supposed to simplify home theater device operation. The specification allows universal compatibility between different manufacturers brands. But you need to set up HDMI-CEC in each device's setup menu. CEC was introduced in the HDMI 1.2a spec.
